Bonelli's Le Grand Duc gite is five star accommodation set within stunning landscapes. The gite is a former winery which has been beautifully restored offering all the benefits of contemporary living in stylish and comfortable surrounds. The accommodation sits within a picturesque hamlet surrounded by vineyards and scrubland or 'garrigue' typical of the calcareous limestone plateaus and stunning limestone escarpments. We were visiting with young children who were enchanted by the gypsy caravan, loved the pool on the terrace and thoroughly enjoyed their first experience of the french countryside. Jacquie was a wonderful host who recommended activities, restaurants and visits to historic villages that suited all age groups. This is a stunning property set within beautiful surrounds. We couldn't fault it and will definitely be back. Thank you Jacquie and Stuart.

The gite is a recent conversion of some wine making buildings and the result is a beautiful house that has been finished to a very high standard of comfort with some great architectural touches. It is located in a tiny hamlet set amid small vineyards and huge areas of wild 'garrigue' and is utterly tranquil. We are keen naturalists and found this place to be a true wonderland! Within a short walk of the gite you can encounter an amazing diversity of wildlife including wildflowers, butterflies, moths, grasshoppers and beetles and loads of birds in abundance including species that are scarce or rare elsewhere. At the right time of year you can hear numerous cuckoos, nightingales and nightjars as well as the Petit Duc (Scops Owl) and Grand Duc (Eagle Owl) that the two gites are named after. The gite is within easy reach of various attractions including traditional French markets, restaurants and historic and picturesque towns and villages. Stuart and Jacquie are charming hosts and very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the area and are happy to give advice on where to go whatever your particular interests might be. Very highly recommended.
